Due to the semi-annual Northern Leopard Frog migration the south dike at Duck Lake will be closed to motorized vehicle traffic August 15th – October 15th.

Northern Leopard Frogs are federally listed as an endangered species in the province of BC.   In 2018, after voluntary road closures were not successful at reducing road mortality, the semi-annual Motorized Vehicle Access Restriction was implemented by Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development (MFLNRO&RD).

Pedestrian and bicycle traffic is still welcome on the dyke during the motorized vehicle restriction, however, please be alert and careful to allow Northern Leopard Frogs to migrate safely across the dike.

Please contact your regional Ministry of FLNRO&RD office with any questions.
