Effective 8:00pm tonight (December 26th, 2021), the access to Duck Lake from Channel Road is closed to motorized vehicles due to the deep snow and slippery conditions on the dike. This surface is actually a provincial flood protection dike and cannot be plowed. It’s set at a specific elevation and removing material by plowing would not be useful. The dike is narrow with steep edges and there have been a number of people/vehicles  “falling off” the dike in the past months, even with no snow and ice on it. Further, this winter, the dike did not have time to freeze before the snow fell and the ground is very soft – the dike is not designed for the amount of traffic it’s getting.  People are welcome to walk, ski, and snowshoe in!

  1. Hi. I am writing this on April 19th, 2022. Is motorized access available to the camping area southwest of Duck Lake? My wife and I have a 40th anniversary to celebrate, and bass fishing in Duck Lake would be perfect, as we have been doing this for quite a few decades. We do have our CVWMA and BC fishing permits already.

    Thanks

    Dale
