UPDATE to the High-water advisory in CVWMA. The temporary closure of the walking bridge over Summit Creek has been rescinded.

Thank you to the public for your understanding! Safety precautions need to be considered during the springtime freshet as weather and conditions can change suddenly. Stay safe and enjoy the trails, while still using caution around the fast-moving water in the creeks and rivers.

High water watch at the Creston Valley Wildlife Management Area

Walking bridge over Summit Creek in CVWMA temporarily closed

From RDCK: May 28, 2026

“The BC River Forecast centre has issued a Flood Watch for the West Kootenay region which covers the entire Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK). High river flows are expected late Friday through Monday or Tuesday across the region. The current high end precipitation scenarios in weather models indicate the potential for flooding through the Kootenays.”

Because of the high-water flows, and potential for more moisture over the weekend in our area, the access over the bridge at Summit Creek in CVWMA is closed temporarily until further notice. Thank you for staying away from this area!

Please use caution around the creeks and rivers during this time.
